Well here goes.....
I am a kiwi from New Zealand and I travelled recently to Israel.
Not your usual holiday destination. Well anyway I ended up visiting a womens refuge. They help Sudanise women who have no where to go, who have escaped from the war that is going on there....
These women are amazing and very inspirational. One of the women I met had been raped several times and tortured - I just can't imagine what this would be like??? Through a number of circumstances (miracles) she ended at the the womens refuge. This wowan has forgiven the people who have committed these horrible crimes against her and is getting on with her life.
She doesn't have very much and is having to start again from scratch. There are alot of women at this refuge who come from similar situations.
I think it is amazing to say the least. I think they are a fantastic example and inspiration to all of us about how women are not letting their past determine their future. She is getting on with her life. More so, she has forgiven the ones who have committed crimes against her!
Who ever said that women are the weaker sex? These women show how amazing we all are and how we have this incredible capacity and ability to survive our pasts and get on with our lives, knowing that we are truly valuable and worth it....
Suffice to say I was really impacted by my stay at the womens refuge which is really making a difference in their corner of the world....
