The scientific answer is a big no to drinking coffee or tea with meals. As coffee contains caffeine which suppresses hunger do not allow us to have full balanced nutritious food. If we take coffee along with dinner, it causes insomnia and also kills the iron in the food. It is always better to drink water 15 minutes before meals and half an hour after meals. If water also is restricted, then hot drinks like coffee and tea are to be avoided totally as it lead to gastro intestinal disorders, insomnia and impairs central nervous system and also affects blood sugar levels.

Some teas can have side effects, especially if you drink them in large quantities. The side effects vary depending on what type of tea you choose. For example, some teas can cause sleepiness, while other might cause irritability or anxiety.
