just wondering what people think of parents who wrap their children in 'cotton wool'. I, for one, really don't approve of it. I was a child who grew up so naive and never learned the facts of life until it was too late. so please reply to this topic with your views.
thanks.

| I'm 23, so I haven't had the privilege of raising kids yet. But drawing on my childhood experiences, I think "cotton wool" can be more of a bad thing than a good thing. It's important to allow children freedom so they become independent-thinking, confident and self-assured adults.

I can definitely say, based on my childhood as a bit of a hyperactive tomboy, that it's so important, if not vital, to let kids experience the world and get to know their own boundaries and limits. If we're teaching children to learn from their experiences and mistakes, then we have to allow them to happen.
It's a tough world out there, better to find that out sooner rather than later.

Thought you might be interested in this video from TED talks. It's called "5 dangerous things you should let your kids do" and it's quite interesting...

I dont approve it either, I wont wrap my little nephew in a cotton wool. Even if it was my kid I would let them experience the world give them a little freedom than holding them back.
Using Kettlebell and treadmills helps to loose fat.
